Popular service set to continue for another year
Funding from the Luigi Francescon Trust, Cranleigh Lions and Cranleigh Hospital League of Friends has safeguarded a popular community service for another year.
Hospital hoppa for Cranleigh launched in December 2023 with enough funding to run it initially for one year.
Since the service launched, hoppa has seen an over 200% increase in the number of people who have registered for the Cranleigh service.
Richard Davies, General Manager at hoppa says: “Hospital hoppa for Cranleigh has proved to be very popular with passengers who do not have access to any other transport and those who want to avoid driving to Guildford and finding somewhere to park in the busy hospital car parks.
“Our drivers pick up passengers from their front door and drop them off outside the hospital or doctors’ entrance. It’s a very personal service which people value. We are grateful to our funders as their support not only secures the service, but it also helps to subsidise the fare which is a welcome benefit for many older people who are feeling a pinch on their finances.”
Hospital hoppa is available to take people to the Royal Surrey, the Jarvis Centre, Mount Alvernia, Cranleigh Village Hospital, Cranleigh Medical Centre and all other medical establishments between Cranleigh and Guildford. A single fare costs £7.50 and £2.50 for a companion/carer.
Residents who would like to use the service need to register their details at www.hoppa.org.uk/register, and call 01428 681701 to book.
Customers are advised to book as early as possible to secure a seat at their preferred time.
