Interview with Tim Price
Name Tim Price
What did you do before joining hoppa?
Before hoppa, I ran my own consultancy business. I worked with local authorities and contractors to make sure winter fleets operated safely and efficiently – everything from GPS tracking to route optimisation. It was very technical work, and I enjoyed the challenge of problem-solving and helping organisations run smoothly.
What appealed to you about being a driver at hoppa?
I was drawn to hoppa because it offered the chance to do something community based and people focused. The idea of working with a team that genuinely cares, while also supporting children, felt like the perfect opportunity to combine purpose with people.
What do you enjoy or find most rewarding about your role?
For me, it’s all about the people – both colleagues and customers. The team at hoppa is fantastic: kind, supportive, and genuinely committed to what they do. And then there are the children. Despite the challenges they face, they bring so much joy, laughter, and positivity. Each day feels rewarding because of them – it’s very life-affirming.
What has been your proudest or most memorable moment at hoppa?
There have been lots of memorable moments, but one that stands out is when a child who was very anxious and reluctant to get on the bus at first began to relax, chat, and even laugh on the journeys. Seeing that transformation and knowing I played even a small part in helping them feel comfortable, makes me proud.
What are your interests or hobbies outside of work?
I’m happiest when I’m active and outdoors. I’m a keen mountain biker and I love sailing. At home, I enjoy spending time in the garden – it’s my way of slowing down and getting my hands dirty after a busy day.
What’s your favourite way to unwind after work?
Spending time with family and friends is top of the list. I really enjoy long walks in the countryside – it’s the best way to switch off and catch up after the day. I also love cooking, so often I’ll come back from a walk and prepare a meal we can all sit down and enjoy together. For me, that mix of nature, good food, and good company is the perfect way to relax.
What’s your hidden talent that (until now) most people don’t know about?
Not many people know this, but I can juggle and ride a unicycle – though not at the same time!
What’s the best thing about working at hoppa?
The team here is supportive, genuine, and dedicated, which makes every day enjoyable. And the children, with their positivity and resilience, are a constant source of inspiration. They remind me daily that even in the face of challenges, laughter and joy are always possible.
