Changes to our fares

Changes in how we are funded combined with the government’s increase in employer’s national insurance contributions and the minimum wage have led to a substantial rise in running costs. To preserve the high-level, door-to-door service that customers expect, our fares increased with effect from 1 April.

How you will be affected

Godalming, Haslemere and Cranleigh Passengers

You may recall that we used to charge £3 per journey until the previous government introduced a £2 bus fare price cap on 1 January 2023 to help ease the cost-of-living crisis. The current government ended the £2 price cap on 31 December 2024. To align with the new government cap, fares moved back to £3 per single trip from 1 April. To align with the new government cap, fares will move back to £3 per single trip from 1 April.

Farnham Passengers

Due to the way some of our services are funded, the Farnham-specific subsidy that we used to receive until early 2024 has been withdrawn. Therefore, from 1 April, our Farnham service has been brought into line with the rest of the borough which means customers can no longer use their concessionary bus pass when travelling with hoppa and will be charged £3 for a single journey.

Hosptial hoppa

There will be no increase in fares for the Hospital hoppa service.

Same high standard of service

At hoppa, we are committed to delivering our same high standard of service. This means we will continue to pick you up from your front door, take you to where you want to go, assist you with getting on and off the bus, carry shopping, be caring and friendly and make sure you are safe.

Help if you are experiencing financial difficulty

We know that times are tough for many of our passengers and that this change in fares may mean some customers have to cut down on the number of times they use the service. If you are struggling to make ends meet, Citizens Advice South West Surrey (Tel: 0808 812 7087) and the Age UK website are useful sources of information.
